Multi Currency

When you create a new account on FinBodhi, you are automatically enrolled in a single-currency model. The app does not ask for your primary currency during setup. If you create a new account and select Account Type: Cash, the system assumes this account uses your primary currency.

All amounts in the app are displayed in your primary currency, making it easier to compare values and visualize data. This design reflects the way most people think about their finances.

There are cases where you might have a forex account for investment or travel purposes. In such situations, it’s natural to choose Cash as the account type but prefer a different currency than your primary one.

You can opt into a multi-currency model by creating currencies in the app. You must also create your primary currency in this setup. Any existing Cash accounts will continue using your primary currency. After adding currencies, you will be able to select a currency for new Cash accounts and also edit the currency of existing accounts.

When performing a transaction between cash accounts with different currencies, you must specify the exchange rate. Such a transaction will look very similar to a regular asset buy or sell transaction.

There are some restrictions when creating split transactions across multiple currencies. All accounts on the from side of the transaction must use the same currency.
